Chiral cobalt-catalyzed enantioselective aerobic oxidation of α-hydroxy esters.
A chiral cobalt-catalyzed enantioselective aerobic oxidative kinetic resolution of (±)-α-hydroxy esters, using molecular oxygen as a sole oxidant, is reported and a maximum of selectivity factor (s) 31.9 was achieved with >99% enantiomeric excess for unreacted α-hydroxy esters.
متن کاملOxidation of Vicinal Diols to α‐Hydroxy Ketones with H2O2 and a Simple Manganese Catalyst
α-Hydroxy ketones are valuable synthons in organic chemistry. Here we show that oxidation of vic-diols to α-hydroxy ketones with H2O2 can be achieved with an in situ prepared catalyst based on manganese salts and pyridine-2-carboxylic acid. Furthermore the same catalyst is effective in alkene epoxidation, and it is shown that alkene oxidation with the MnII catalyst and H2O2 followed by Lewis ac...
متن کاملIridium-catalyzed selective α-methylation of ketones with methanol.
Iridium-catalyzed selective α-dimethylation and α-methylation of ketones or phenylacetonitriles, using methanol as the methylating agent, were achieved. In addition, three-component cross α-methyl-alkylation was successfully performed using methyl ketones with methanol and primary alcohols with long-chain alkyl groups. This method provides a very convenient direct route to α-methylated ketones,...
متن کاملNHCs Catalyzed Hydrophosphonylation of α-Ketoesters and α-Trifluoromethyl Ketones
N-Heterocyclic carbenes catalyzed hydrophosphonylation reaction of α-ketoesters and α-trifluoromethyl ketones was developed. Under the catalysis of 10 mol% IPr, α-ketoesters or α-trifluoromethyl ketones reacted with dialkyl phosphites to provide quaternary α-hydroxyphosphonates in good to excellent yield.
متن کاملGold-catalyzed regioselective oxidation of terminal allenes: formation of α-methanesulfonyloxy methyl ketones
Synthetically useful α-methanesulfonyloxy methyl ketones are readily prepared in one-step from terminal allenes in fair to good yields. The chemistry relies on a gold-catalyzed intermolecular oxidation of the 1,2-diene unit using 3,5-dichloropyridine N-oxide as the oxidant. The reaction tolerates a range of functional groups and shows excellent regioselectivity.
